The lyrics (and title) refer to the three lions on the Royal Arms of England, which also appear on the England football team's emblem. "Three Lions (Football's Coming Home)" came out in 1996, when the UEFA European Football Championship ("Euro 96") took place in England. "Three Lions" was recorded by The Lightning Seeds (whose lead singer Ian Broudie composed the music) and the comedians Frank Skinner and David Baddiel (who wrote the song's lyrics). It's an accurate piano arrangement of "Three Lions" which is not too hard to play, and sounds fantastic.

During bars 70-74 the tempo slows and the mood changes in preparation for a very different dream-like presentation of the song, where the melody is mostly played by the left hand with the right hand providing a rippling accompaniment that gently splashes across a wide range of the keyboard. The tempo then picks up for a swing exploration, at a relaxed tempo, of the song in bars 25-74.
